When Jesus called these four fishermen, He called them to a life of hard work. Joining Him in these travels was not going to be easy. He didn’t say, “Follow Me and you will have a life of ease,” or "Follow Me and watch while I do all the work." As they went with Jesus, they would share in His hardships and have many responsibilities. So walking with Jesus means an active lifestyle. The Christian life is to be active, not just resting or relaxing.
